Effects of Light on the Growth and β-carotene Accumulation in the Green Algae Dunaliella salina

The marine microalgae Dunaliella salina holds significant economic value due to its rich content of β-carotene, a natural pigment with high antioxidant capacity, immune-stimulating properties, and crucial role in reactions vitamins C E. This study evaluated the effects light factors on growth biosynthesis β-carotene strain isolated from coastal waters Central Vietnam. was cultured static f/2 medium at 25°C, under different spectra (blue, red, white) intensities (13.5, 27.0, 40.5 µmol photon/m2/s), similar light/dark cycle 16/8. results indicated that showed highest rate production yield red LED light, whereas accumulation each microalgal cell obtained blue light. Regarding intensity, best observed experimental intensity photon/m2/s, but per algal reached lowest (13.5 photon/m2/s). These findings provide important scientific data for further research identify optimal conditions increasing biomass stimulating valuable secondary compounds
